SRP-1 Incline Mine celebrates its golden jubilee

Singareni Collieries Company Limited’s (SCCL) SRP-1 inclined mine at Srirampur in Mancherial district celebrated its golden jubilee on Wednesday.

The golden jubilee celebrations were marked by the unveiling of a commemorative pylon and other programs at the mine, which has maintained permanent records of coal mining for decades.

SCCL director (projects and planning) K. Venkateshwarlu and AITUC-affiliated Singareni Collieries Workers Union (SCWU) president Vasireddy Seetharamaiah were among those who attended the celebrations.

The speakers recalled the history of the underground mine and highlighted its key achievements, including securing a five-star rating for the year 2018-19 in the assessment conducted by the Union Coal Ministry. The mine also reached 200% of its targeted coal production in 2023, they said.

They emphasized the need to reduce coal mining costs while maintaining quality and productivity. They also called for sustained efforts to increase production and improve coal quality.

On this occasion, a documentary depicting the journey of the SRP-1 inclined mine and its contribution to the country’s energy security over the past five decades was screened.
