In a major move to position Andhra Pradesh as a global clean energy hub, SRM University-AP and JK Srivastava Hynfra PSA Limited (India-Poland Joint Venture) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday (February 3, 2026) to establish a state-of-the-art scientific center for research, research and science in hydrogen technology, excellence and excellence.
This initiative falls under Andhra Pradesh’s target of producing 1.5 MMTPA of green hydrogen by 2030. The project also aims to develop a comprehensive plan for hydrogen storage and transportation, develop hydrogen-powered trains, buses, trucks, etc., establish a 5 GW electrolyser production capacity, and reduce hydrogen costs.
At the Green Hydrogen Summit held at SRM University-AP in July 2025 attended by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, SRM University-AP was recognized as the state nodal agency for conducting advanced research on hydrogen technology for the Green Hydrogen Valley project.

Narayana Rao, in his role as the state’s nodal agency, said the university has driven the initial phase of green hydrogen development by establishing a Center of Excellence for Hydrogen Technology in collaboration with JK Srivastava Hynfra PSA Ltd.
The JK Srivastava Group, in partnership with Hynfra, has invested ₹35,000 crore to set up a green ammonia industry near Mulapeta in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, which is expected to be operational by 2029, he said.
He said the center will focus on developing highly efficient catalysts for electrolysis, exploring the feasibility of alternative water sources, including direct electrolysis of seawater, advancing new hydrogen storage solutions and exploring the potential use of hydrogen to power data centers.
New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) Vice Chairman and Managing Director Kamalakar Babu spoke about the state’s Integrated Clean Energy (ICE) policy.
JK Srivastava Founder and Chairman of Hynfra PSA Ltd., JK Srivastava said that leveraging its extensive coastline, Andhra Pradesh was eyeing a target of exporting 500,000 tonnes of green ammonia to Europe by 2029.
