The international conference entitled ‘Breaking Barriers: Reimagining Centre–Margin Dynamics from Interdisciplinary Perspectives’, organized by the Department of Literature and Language at the Easwari School of Liberal Arts, SRM University-AP, focused on a critical reflection on the persistent binaries of center and margin in the contemporary world.
Rajkumar, a professor at the University of Delhi, spoke about how entrenched hierarchies of power affect governance, identity, knowledge and belonging, while exploring how the Middle-Range binary is not fixed and how much it is a flexible entity.
On the first day of the three-day conference, Angshuman Kar of the University of Burdwan spoke on “Marginality and the Politics of Literary Repatriation of Australian Aborigines” with several parallel sessions on different topics.
Vice Chancellor SRM University-AP Ch. Satish Kumar noted that marginalization exists in every sector and it is the social structure that determines marginalization, shadowed by the play of power dynamics.
