Students of SRKR Engineering College, Bhimavaram, West Godavari district bagged a rich haul of prizes at the national level Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025, jointly organized by the Government of India, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Union Ministry of Education.
In a statement on Tuesday, College Secretary and SR Correspondent Nishanth Varma said that SRKR students secured first place in two categories in the finals held at VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Technology and Engineering, Hyderabad. Each winning team received a cash prize of ₹75,000. Another team from the university also performed impressively at the competitions held in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, winning a cash prize of ₹25,000, bringing the university recognition at the national level.
College Principal KVM Krishna Raju and Principal M. Jagapathi Raju said one of the winning teams, comprising third-year ECE students, developed a hardware system to detect unsafe and unauthorized electrical wiring and finishes. The team was led by Y. Jyothsna and included P. Dasaratha Ram, SS Vennela Sri, V. Vikas, A. Nirikshana Paul and D. Venkata Lokesh. The team was mentored by Technology Center Head M. Gopalakrishna Murthy along with SRKR alumnus Deepika.
Another SRKR team that won a cash prize of ₹75,000 sponsored by the Government of Kerala for their hardware project to improve power quality in renewable energy distribution networks. The team was led by P. Harikrishna (III year EEE) and included V. Lakshman Kumar (III year EEE), CH. Kumar Raju (III year EE), K. Jejeswara Rao (III year ECE), S. Teja Venkata Divya Latha (III year IT) and MS Sai Prakash (III year ECE). Assistant Professor K. Pawan Kumar (AICTE Idea Lab) and SRKR Alumnus D. Gopi Manikantha mentored the team.
At the finals in Ghaziabad, a team of CSG students developed an innovative software solution to see if central government social security schemes reached beneficiaries directly. The team received the “Best Performance Award” and was led by P. Hema Ashwini (3rd Year CSG), included MSL members Deepika, G. Naga Gayatri, P. Leela Sri, P. Rama Naga Ganesh (Final Year) and K. Yashwanth (Final Year), under the guidance of Professor and Head of CSG and Assistant Professor M. Suresh.
