The Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple at Srisailam and its precincts wore a festive look on the first auspicious Monday of ‘Karthika Masam’. Pushkarini temple pond was illuminated with 1000 lamps as part of ‘Laksha Deepotsavam’ and ‘Pushkarini Harathi’ was performed on the occasion.
Thousands of devotees thronged the temple and the temple authorities made elaborate arrangements to accommodate the rush of devotees. As part of Pushkarini Harathi, the processional deities of Lord Mallikarjuna and Goddess Bhramaramba and Pushkarini were offered ‘Dasavida Harathi’ which includes Omkara Harathi, Naga Harathi, Trishula Harathi, Nandi Harathi, Simha Harathi, Surya Harathi, Kuha Nakshatra Harathi and Karpura Harathi.
Srisailam Temple Executive Director M. Srinivasa Rao said the temple opened at 3 am and after the morning rituals, darshan was allowed from 4.30 am onwards. He said that Lord Mallikarjuna’s ‘Sparsha Darshan’ will not be provided on all peak days including Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays and also on ‘Karthika Pournami’ and other auspicious days. Arjitha Abhishekams will not be held on these days, he added.
The temple management provided refreshments and water throughout the queue for the convenience of devotees while special arrangements were made for devotees to light ‘Karthika Deepams’ at Gangadhara Mandapam and North Mada Street. ‘Annaprasadam’ was served from 10.30 am and refreshments were offered from 6.30 pm. The temple management has also added 10 more counters to the existing ones for selling laddus and will prepare more laddus keeping in view the rush of devotees.
Minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy and Srisailam MLA Budda Rajasekhara Reddy had darshan at the temple.
Meanwhile, CH Bharadwara Sarma and G. Gangamma were sworn in as members of the Srisailam Temple Board of Trustees in the presence of EO Srinivasa Rao.
