IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu has accused both the BJP and the BRS of launching a smear campaign against the state government with their baseless allegations related to the Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation (HILT) policy. He said the state government would order an inquiry into the conversion of industrial land under the BRS government.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, he refuted the allegations regarding the Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation (HILT) policy. “The state government is levying a fee to protect its land under the HILT policy,” he said, accusing the BRS government of usurping government land. He asked why the BJP was silent on the freehold of leased land in 2022 under the BRS regime.
“The previous BRS-led government arbitrarily changed the names of government land. They transferred a hundred acres of land belonging to a pharmaceutical company. Didn’t BRS remember the rules back then?” he asked, adding that the industries have not come forward with the 30% sub-registration authority (SRO) in the grid policy brought by the BRS.
“That’s why we are taking a step forward and trying. Due to the negligence of the BRS government, polluting industries have increased in and around Hyderabad,” said Mr. Sridhar Babu.
“The BRS government has introduced permission to lease government-owned land. The government has not taken any decision regarding government land. We have formulated a policy on land held by industries. This policy applies only to freehold land and not to ‘government leased land’, whether in industrial parks or on its own,” he said, adding that our government has expressed its support for the policy of the Nacharam industrial association.
