
Sri Lanka Spinner Dunith Wellalage’s father Suranga Wellalage died of a heart attack on Thursday 18 September. Dunith represented Sri Lanka in their match of the Asia Cup 2025 against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi when he was informed of his father’s browsing.
Former cricket and broadcaster Russell Arnold confirmed Air reports after Sri Lanka defeated Afghanistan in her final group stage on Thursday. Sri Lankan’s media also reported that dunnity was about death shortly after Sri Lanka completed her pursuit of 170 late in the evening. Arnold remembered that Suranga Wellalage was a respected cricket that the captain of one of the leading school teams Sri Lanka. The former versatile said that Suranga skipped Prince of Wales College at a time when Arnold himself captain of St. Peter.
“Father Dunit Welllage, Suranga, died a while ago. He also played a little cricket. You know how big our school cricket scene is. Captain Prince of Wales College when I am a captain, St Peter’s,” Arnold said.
