SRH vs LSG Live Score, IPL 2026: Lucknow Super Giants will need a major improvement with the bat as they go for their first win of the season against a confident Sunrisers Hyderabad in a tricky away clash on Sunday.
SRH went into their first home match full of confidence after rediscovering their batting firepower and amassing 226/8 to beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 65 runs at the Eden Gardens. A return to Uppal, where conditions are expected to favor the draw game in the afternoon match, only adds to LSG’s challenge.
With momentum and home advantage on their side, SRH will start as favourites, so LSG will have a lot to overcome. Despite making the play-offs in their first two seasons, the Sanjiv Goenka-owned franchise have struggled in recent years, finishing seventh twice and their current campaign also got off to a disappointing start.
The problem is not a lack of resources. Led by Justin Langer, LSG boast a strong batting unit that includes Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, captain Rishabh Pant and Nicholas Pooran. However, their collapse to 141 in less than 19 overs against Delhi Capitals in the opening match exposed glaring weaknesses.
The tactical changes didn’t help either, as LSG moved away from the opening pairing of Marsh-Markram and moved Pant up the order. The move backfired, with Pant scoring just seven before being run out, again raising questions about his ideal position. A return to No. 3 – the slot where he found success in 2025, including a century – may be considered. Pooran has also done well in that role but may have to handle the middle overs instead.
The only bright spot was Marsh, who made 35 before falling to a slower delivery, underscoring LSG’s recurring problem of not converting starts into big scores. To regain balance, they may try to restore the starting Marsh-Markram combination and bring Pant back into the middle order.
However, their bowling was a big plus. Mohammed Shami impressed with vintage new-ball magic alongside young pacer Prince Yadav to reduce Delhi to 26/4 in the powerplay. But LSG could not sustain the pressure in the middle overs and the decision to leave out mystery spinner Digvesh Rathi, last season’s leading wicket-taker, raised eyebrows. On the flat Uppal pitch, their combination without the front wrist-spinner could again come under scrutiny.
SRH seem to have found their rhythm after losing to Royal Challengers Bengaluru earlier in the season. Their batting performed as a unit against KKR with Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma returning to form at the top.
Stand-in captain Ishan Kishan has shown promising signs while Heinrich Klaasen’s experience continues to anchor the middle order as seen in his composed half-century in Kolkata.
SRH’s batting depth remains a key concern for LSG. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy impressed with both bat and ball while Harsh Dubey kept the spins in check. The pace duo of Jaydev Unadkat and Ehsan Malinga chipped in with five wickets between them as KKR were bowled out for 161 in 16 overs, showing that SRH’s bowling unit is far from fragile.
