Special rituals and prayers marked the auspicious festival of ‘Sri Rama Navami’ held at various temples in Tirupati on Friday (March 27).
The celebrations began at the century-old Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple, which belongs to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and is located in the heart of Tirupati, which is considered equal to those in Bhadrachalam and Vontimitta in terms of reverence.
The temple recently witnessed the nine-day annual Brahmotsavam, while the Rama Navami festivities follow close on its heels.
The three-day event includes Sri Rama Navami, Sita Rama Kalyanam and Srirama Pattabhishekam viz. Lord Rama’s Jayanti, his divine marriage with Sita and his coronation as an emperor held on 27th, 28th and 29th March.
This event was also spectacularly observed in various other temples. As is the practice observed for the past thirty years, devotees of Uttaradhi Mutt pulled out a mini car carrying idols of Rama, Sita, Lakshmana and Hanuman from their premises on Mitta Street around the Kodandarama temple precincts.
