In preparation for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, a special mapping of the electoral roll will take place on Thursday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, Deputy Commissioner and District Electoral Officer B. Fauzia Taranum said.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Ms. Taranum said the exercise involves mapping the 2025 electoral rolls with the 2022 electoral roll as a preliminary step to a special intensive revision planned by the Election Commission of India in April 2026.
As per the instructions of the Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka, preparatory work is underway in all the nine Assembly constituencies in the district.
However, as the progress of mapping in the four constituencies, Jevargi, Kalaburagi Rural, Kalaburagi South and Kalaburagi North, is relatively slow, the district administration decided to organize a special campaign on Thursday to speed up the process.
Ms. Taranum said that booth level officers (BLOs) will conduct mapping work in all polling stations in the four assembly constituencies during the special drive. Voters have been urged to actively participate to ensure that no eligible name is left out during the mapping process.
She urged all sections of the society, including rank and file voters, dignitaries, political leaders and party workers, government and semi-government employees, private sector employees, unorganized and organized workers, NGO employees, school and college employees, senior citizens, professionals and their family members to cooperate with the officials and verify that their names are correctly entered in the electoral rolls.
