State police chief Shaik Darvesh Saheb formally declared a student cadet (SPC) on Friday as a drug ambassador.
The announcement was made at the SPC leadership summit, which takes place in Thiruvananthapuram.
Mr. Saheb emphasized the key role that students play in the spread of awareness of the dangers of drug abuse. He stressed that a state that is struggling with a growing social problem is necessary for an effective solution to the crisis.
He added that the police will soon start a project aimed at assigning a devotee of every school throughout the state. These officers will serve as nodal officers in the ongoing drug campaign.
The next CEO of the police, headquarters, Sreejith also took part in this position.
