
Qatar’s 2026 football festival, including the planned Finalissima match between Argentina and Spain, has been canceled due to continued travel disruption and airspace closures, organizers said.The Local Organizing Committee (LOC), in conjunction with UEFA and CONMEBOL, confirmed in a statement that the program of events planned for Qatar will no longer go ahead as planned. The Finalissima Qatar 2026 match was scheduled to take place at the Lusail Stadium in Doha.

“The Local Organizing Committee, in collaboration with UEFA and CONMEBOL, has taken the decision to cancel the Qatar Football Festival 2026. As a result, the planned program of events in Qatar, including the Finalissima Qatar 2026 match between Argentina and Spain at the Lusail Stadium, will no longer take place in Doha as originally planned,” the LOC said in a statement.Organizers said the decision was taken because airspace disruptions and travel restrictions were affecting the ability of fans, players and officials to travel.“As airspace disruptions and travel restrictions continue to affect the ability of many fans, players and officials to travel, it has been mutually agreed that relocating the match is the most appropriate solution at this time. The LOC welcomes the opportunity to host UEFA and CONMEBOL events in the future.”Organizers also said that fans who bought tickets for the Qatar Football Festival will be automatically refunded.“All fans who purchased tickets for the Qatar Football Festival will automatically receive a full refund within 30 days using the original payment method.”The statement added that international fans who purchased travel packages through tour operators will be contacted directly for refunds.“International fans who purchased travel packages through a travel agent will be contacted directly regarding refunds.”
