Allegations of harassment within the police department surfaced after a Superintendent of Police (SP) from the Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement (DCRE) wrote to the Director General of Police (DGP) seeking permission to expose alleged misconduct by some IPS officers.
In the letter, the SP alleged that some IPS officers in Karnataka were abusing their authority against subordinate staff. The memo further alleged that several out-of-state officers allegedly targeted officers of Kannada origin and abused their position to suppress them.
