
Nigel Edge, 39, from Oak Island, was identified as a suspicious shooter in bulk shooting, which left three people dead and several others were injured at the Bar of Nabřeží in Southport in North Carolina, the authorities said on Sunday.
The shooting took place on Saturday around 21:30 near the popular section of bars and restaurants along the historic embankment of Southport, approximately 30 miles south of Wilmington. Investigators said Edge was piloting a small ship near the coast, stopped briefly and started fire at dinner at the American Fish Company restaurant before escaping from the scene.
“It was a very predicted attack and the place was clearly focused,” said police chief Southport Todd Coring at a press conference on Sunday.
Fees and arrests
According to a spokesman for the city Chyann Ketchum, Edge faces three number of first -degree murder, five attempts to murder first grade, and five number of attacks with a deadly weapon.
About 30 minutes after shooting the crew of the US Coast Guard saw a person who corresponds to the description of the suspect on a public ship on the island of Oak. Edge was detained and handed over to the Southport Police for questioning.
It is held at the Brunswick County detention center without a bond and is scheduled for Monday in court.
Judicial documents did not state the legal representative for EDGE and it was not immediately clear whether he was legal.
Investigations are underway
Authorities from more agencies, including the State Investigation and Coast Guard office, continued to collect evidence and witnesses on the crime scene on Sunday. Officials have not yet published the names of the deceased or by updating the conditions of the injured.
On Sunday, the police planned a press conference at 11:00 to provide further details of how the investigation continues.
