With robust growth in electric vehicles (EV) cars and wheels, the southern railway decided to upgrade the existing EV charging equipment and install new ones at several railway stations in the city. This is the second time that the southern railway is trying, and the first attempt was fled, although the service was free.
The head official Chennai in the South Railway said that growth in EV made them look again at the creation of the EV charging device, because the space was not a restriction on railway stations and most commuting used to achieve private vehicles. As part of the initiative, they proposed railway officials to carry out 28 railway stations, and between these works have already started in Light House, Thirumayilai, Vehesery and Kotturpuram. The EV charging units are installed and it is planned to be put into operation by June.
Of the 28 railway stations, eight in the Chennai Beach-Tambarama-Chengalpath and Seven in the System of Bulk Fast Transit (MRTS), operated between Velachery and Chennai Beach, are eight in the section. Some of the key stations that will soon boast of the EV charging device include the Moore Market (MMC), Chengalpath, Tirusula, Taramani, Beach, Avadi and Guindy.
M. Premkumar from Kotturpuram said that EV charging equipment at Kotturpuram MRTS would be better if the parking supplier was assigned to monitor vehicles because it would help ensure their safety.
Battery replacement
Railway officials who have captured a holistic approach to supporting commuters using EVS are also in the process of setting up the battery replacement. Battery replacement will allow EV users who do not have the time to charge their vehicles to rent a replacement battery that you can use during the Provisy. The commuters can load their own batteries when returning to the station. Southern Railway commissioned contracts to install batteries to replace battery at 11 railway stations. Work is being carried out to identify suppliers and will start in the first week of June.
The twins charging and replacement of the battery would be available at Thiruvanmiyur, EGMORE, Velachery and MMC railway stations. The clerk said the offers were invited to auctions for three more places for installing units to replace battery and identify areas for setting up other units.
S. Kumaresan, who owns an electric two -wheel, said that battery replacement technology needs a clean environment, so the counter had to be installed inside the railway stations.
