
South Korea will organize the presidential election of Snap on June 3 to choose a new president to replace former President Yoon Suk Yeol, which was excluded by the Constitutional Court last week.
The reigning President Han Duck-Soo and the Cabinet agreed on Tuesday 8th April after discussions with the National Election Commission because he needed to approve a public holiday for elections, Reuters reported.
Why was the President Yoon removed
Yoon, a former prosecutor and conservative leader who joined the office in 2022, was released after the court ruled that he had seriously violated the institute by trying to induce combat law in response to growing political disagreements and street protests.
What are Snap’s elections?
President Yoon indictment at the beginning of April is only for the second time in the democratic history of South Korea that a seated president has been removed from the office.
The law requires new presidential elections within 60 days if the position becomes free before the current president.
