The former Indian cricket Aakash Chopra believes that Sri Lanka has a better chance than to prevent South Africa’s champions to achieve the World Championship finals in 2027 (WTC). In the upcoming WTC 2025-27 cycle, both teams will face different challenges, but Chopra feels that the series planning prefers ropes.
In the new WTC cycle it was a decent beginning of Sri Lanka. Playing against Bangladesh at home, stretched out the first test and In the second and last match of the series, they comprehensively defeated their arch-group. Chopra said on his YouTube channel and said that Sri Lanka’s accessories offer them a realistic way to achieve the finals.
“Sri Lanka flatters.
Cricket-Rared-Commentator added that even though Sri Lanka is fighting in New Zealand, the power of their home advantage could be crucial to help them achieve the final of the championship.
“Even if they get stuck in two matches in New Zealand, they have India, South Africa and Bangladesh. It’s not a bad draw at all. Sri Lanka actually has a good chance.
In 2023, the team had a unique opportunity to sea the place in the finals. The party led by Dimuth Karunaratne had to beat New Zealand in both tests to qualify for the clash of the summit in London, but eventually lost both matches. In the previous 2023-25 cycle, they finished sixth in the point table with a percentage of 38.46.
Hard tours on the subcontinent could prevent SA outside the final of WTC: Chopra
Chopra analyzed the schedule of South Africa and noted that their home matches would not be straightforward. “The Australia and England series will be hard while hosting Bangladesh will be quite easy,” he admitted.
Proteas looks just as demanding, with trips to Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka. All three are a series of subcontinent, where it will probably play a key role that Chopra believes will be difficult for champion advocates.
South Africa comes high and in the finals 2023-25 WTC beat Australia by five goals to claim a world testing palce. However, the journey to the next final will require to adapt to the conditions of spinning outside the home and at the same time oppose competitive parties such as Australia and England at home.
