Sourav Ganguly reacts to Pakistan’s boycott and wishes for match against India

February 10, 2026

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly shared his views on Pakistan turning its boycott against India. After a two-week dispute between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC), the two cricketing bodies finally reached a consensus after which the Pakistan government granted the team permission to take the field against their arch-rivals India on 15 February.

After notification, Ganguly welcomed the decisionsaying that sports and politics should be separated. He also expressed the hope that Pakistan will give India a tough competition in the upcoming match so that the contest does not turn out to be one-sided.

“I don’t really know all that stuff, man – what’s still going on at the government level or why it’s happening. But the game is happening and that’s good. Sports are separate – sports and politics are different. It’s going to be a good game and India-Pakistan has always produced great games. The competition hasn’t been as strong in recent years, but hopefully he’ll play very well against India because you’re going to play well in Pakistan.” Ganguly said ANI.

What is India’s record vs Pakistan in T20Is?

India have a clear upper hand over Pakistan in their T20I history, winning 12 of the 16 matches played between the two sides, with one match ending in a draw. Furthermore, India have been even more dominant against their arch-rivals since September 5, 2022, remaining unbeaten in the last nine meetings across formats between the two teams.

Pakistan last defeated India in international cricket on 4 September 2022 during the Asia Cup in Dubai. Since then, India have won eight of the nine matches played between the two sides, with one match ending in no result. Notably, the last seven completed encounters between India and Pakistan have been won by India.

As a result, the Men in Green will be under immense pressure heading into the upcoming fixture as they look to end their long winless run against their fiercest rivals.
