The local government department granted NGOs with the Association for Animal Care (CAWA) compared to NGOs to carry out massive vacpines against dogs and the public awareness of public awareness in local bodies throughout the state, with a growing number of cases of wealthy dogs.
Last year, Cawa asked the government to permit these activities. Cawa already coordinates with LSGD and the animal breeding department in some districts and in some local bodies in the area of animal contraception (ABC). The animal breeding department provides vaccines, while local bodies bear the cost of catching dogs and the vaccination process. CAWA involved dealt with the lack of staff to perform these activities. The latest permission will allow their activities to be expanded to multiple areas. In recent months, the state government has taken several steps to deal with a growing number of bite of raving dogs. LSGD has recently issued an order to enable local authorities to carry out euthanasia of the sick dogs using the provisions on the prevention of animal cruelty (animal breeding procedures). The Minister of Local Governments Mbrajesh demanded the Union’s government to change the ABC rules, because it according to him slows down the progress of ABC activities due to specific conditions related to the facility for sterilization of wealthy dogs and also to place them after sterilization.
