The Shidlaghatta police in Chickballapur district have cracked a sensational robbery case in which a woman was attacked and robbed of valuables worth ₹60,000 while she was alone at home.
Three people, including the victim’s son-in-law and his brother and father, have been arrested in connection with the crime, which took place on December 10.
The accused have been identified as Sharukh Pasha, 25, the victim’s son-in-law, his brother Sahil Pasha, 24, and their father Inayath Pasha, 54. The victim also has an elder sister of Inayath Pasha, police said.
According to the police, the accused were in dire need of money and conspired to rob a close relative as they knew the family was well off. They waited for an opportunity and struck when the victim, Mubarak, was left alone at home after her husband and children had gone to Ajmer on a religious trip.
Soon after Mubarak returned home on December 10, Sharukh and Sahil allegedly entered the house disguised in burkinis. They taped her mouth shut, tied her hands and feet, assaulted her when she fought back, and ransacked the house. The duo absconded with gold and silver ornaments worth around ₹60 lakh.
Despite her injuries, Mubarak managed to untie herself and alerted her relatives, who rushed to the house and took her to hospital.
Based on her complaint, the Shidlaghatta police registered a case of robbery and formed a special investigation team to trace the accused.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the brothers had given some of the stolen gold to their father, Inayath Pasha, to dispose of. Acting on a tip off, the police traced Inayath to Devanahalli where he was trying to stop the stolen gold. He was caught in the act.
During interrogation, Inayath Pasha confessed to his role in the crime, which led to the arrest of his two sons and the recovery of much of the stolen valuables.
Superintendent of Police, Chickballapur, Kushal Chowksey appreciated the Shidlaghatta police team for their prompt and efficient investigation in cracking the case.
