Former Pakistan cricketer Imad Wasim’s wife Sannia Ashfaq has revealed the reason behind the couple’s divorce with the alleged involvement of a third party. Imad and Sannia publicly announced their separation through their social media handles.
The couple got married on 26 August 2019 in Islamabad and they have three children together. Taking to social media, Sannia expressed her grief and said her home was broken.
She mentioned that she remained dedicated as a wife and mother to maintain her family despite the difficulties, but the involvement of a third party eventually led to their divorce. Sannia also made a shocking claim that someone wants to marry Imada.
“I am writing this from a place of deep pain. My home was broken and my children were left without a father. I am a mother of three children, including a five-month-old infant who has not yet been held by his father. This is not a story I want to share, but silence should never be mistaken for weakness,” she wrote on her Instagram.
“Like many marriages, ours has had difficulties, yet it persevered. I remained committed as a wife and mother and sincerely tried to save our family. This marriage ultimately ended the involvement of a third party intent on marrying my husband, which was the final blow to an already struggling union,” she added.
I will continue to take care of my children: Imad
Imad also announced his divorce on social media stating that the marriage ended due to repeated conflicts and urged everyone not to believe any misleading stories.
“After much thought and due to repeated conflicts that have not been resolved in recent years, I have filed for divorce. As for the children, I remain their father and will continue to take care of them fully and responsibly. Thank you for your understanding and respect. I ask everyone not to buy into and believe misleading narratives. Any attempt to defame or involve others in this personal matter I will address on Instagram,” I wrote on Instagram.
Wasim announced his international retirement for the second time in December 2024after reversing his decision to play in the 2024 FIFA T20 World Cup where he appeared in three matches. He represented Pakistan in 55 ODIs and 75 T20Is, scoring 1,540 runs with six half-centuries to his credit. The left-arm spinner also accounted for 117 wickets for Pakistan, including two five-wicket hauls. He was also part of Pakistan’s winning campaign in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy.
