The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) on Thursday issued a clarification after a video went viral on social media claiming that a soft drink vendor at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium was seen refilling bottles with already poured drinks during a recent match.
A video filmed by a fan and widely shared on X (formerly Twitter) raised concerns among viewers and raised questions about hygiene and quality standards at the venue, especially in light of the high prices charged for refreshments at the stadium.
In an official statement, the DDCA said it has taken cognizance of the circulating footage and clarified that the activity shown in the video has been misinterpreted. According to the union, the pouring seen in the clip was carried out by an authorized concessionaire operating at the stadium and was in accordance with the event’s guidelines and established operating procedures.

The DDCA explained that the vendor did not fill the bottles for resale but instead disposed of the unused drinks as part of the waste sorting process. “In the example shown in the video, the vendor, while separating wet and dry waste, poured the unused beverage back into the bottle prior to disposal as part of the waste collection process,” the statement said. The association added that the bottles were subsequently collected, sorted and processed in accordance with the waste management and recycling policy.
The DDCA reiterated its commitment to hygiene standards and said strict cleanliness protocols are being followed at all locations under its control. The concessionaire in question, the association noted, served Coca-Cola products in accordance with agreed business arrangements and operating standards.
The DDCA also emphasized that the bottles shown in the video were disposed of responsibly and were not recirculated. The clarification comes at a time of increased scrutiny of food and drink at cricket stadiums, where fans often raise concerns about prices and hygiene during matches.
