According to Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Telangana government’s top priority is the welfare of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) workers.
In his statement, Mr. Vikramarka said that all issues related to the medical disability of the workers will be resolved in all possible ways through the relevant medical boards.
He said, “The government will set up a committee to ensure that all facilities, including tax benefits, are extended to SCCL workers at par with officers as per Coal India norms. To fulfill the dream of SCCL workers to own a house, the government will extend housing subsidy as decided by the High Power Committee,” and reiterated that various other problems of the workers would be resolved expeditiously.
He noted that as many as 2,539 posts have been filled in the SCCL since the Congress government took over. Of these, 798 are external posts and 1,741 appointments were made on compassionate grounds. SCCL posted its highest ever profits of ₹6,394 crore in FY2024-25.
Of this, 34% as profit share of ₹802 crore was paid to workers. Besides, a profit share of ₹ 5,500 each was paid to the outsourced service workers, he said, outlining various other welfare measures initiated by the state government for SCCL workers in the last two years.
