All 70 Mla Delhi, including opposition members, received Apple iPhone 16 phones for official use. They also received new iPads and tablets. It is part of it without paper, Indian Express reported.
This change supports the start of the National E-VdiVhan (Neva) application that helps run the assembly digitally. For the first time, all lawmakers used their new devices during the session, added the publication.
Thanks to the new roof race, the Delhi set is now also fully driven by solar energy. Delhi thus became the first in India, which operated a fully solar and fully digital assembly.
Neva, part of the “One Nation, One Application” plan, began with this monsoon meeting.
The MLA was trained in July to use the system. Functions include intelligent microphones, voting panels and RFID/NFC recording. More language options, immediate access to documents on iPads and HD cameras are also included.
Social media will explode
Social media exploded and users responded to updating messages. Many called it a waste of taxpayers’ money. Some also wondered what happened to the “Make in India” movement.
“Midsing should be:” Delhi taxpayers forced to donate all Mla iPhone 16 and iPads. One user wrote.
“Btw, Modi recently didn’t say we should buy Indians to buy swadeshi? US Brand ka phone Hi Lena Tha?” added a user.
Another user has published: “We are increasing import tariffs to promote make in India. Then we will distribute imported iPhones to the MLA. Brilliant vision – for American trade surplus.”
“Nice to use our tax money. People pay 24 months emiss on iPhone, babus get free,” poured sarcasm.
“No problem, but the monthly salary of Inki Me Cut Hona Chahiy (but should be deducted from their salaries),” another commented.
“If all 70 Mla in Delhi receive a free iPhone 16 Pro and due to the approximate retail price of the iPhone 16 Pro (128 GB) in India is in India £1.19 900, estimated total costs would be: 70 MLA × £1.19 900 = £Only 83,93,000, ”another user calculated.
One user responded: “This is an absolute waste of taxpayers’ money!”
“More than 80% of Indians cannot afford the iPhone, yet politicians donate them. What a pity,” another commented.
“More influenced is on the way,” another joked.
“Who needs clean water, decent schools or functioning hospitals if you can spend your way through taxpayers’ money?” Another sarcastic comment came.
