Swansea City welcomed a surprising new face to its ownership group-American rap icons Snoop Dogg. The championship club on Thursday confirmed that a 53 -year -old artist whose real name is Calvin Broadus became a minority investor and joined as a Croatian football legend Luka Modric.
The speculation was torn because Snoop Dogg appeared as an unlikely model for starting the Swansea 2025-26 home set last weekend. Now these rumors were relaxed, while the world -famous entertainer officially took a stake in the Welsh club.
“My love for football is well known, but it is strange for me that I will move to the club with Swansea City,” Snoop said in a statement on the club’s website.
“The story of the club and the area really hit the chord with me. It’s a proud city of working class and club-underdog that bites back, just like me.”
It is assumed that Snoop’s involvement has been connected with mutual connections with American entrepreneurs Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen, who led the Swansea takeover last November. The pair is part of the wider group of investors, including Luka Modric, which joined the club’s ownership in April, just before moving to AC Milan.
With more than 100 million followers across its platforms in social media, the arrival of Snoop Dogg is expected to bring significant visibility of Swansea significant support.
“Snoop’s colossal global fanbase and the audience will certainly help us,” said the club’s ownership group.
“During this process, he explained to us how excited was when he was involved in the club.
The newly found celebrity support for Swansea comes at a decisive time. In the last year, the club published a loss of taxes of 15.2 million and the ownership group outlined a clear goal: to increase the club’s profile around the world to generate more income and remain in line with the financial sustainability of English football.
With his colleague Welsh Side Wrexham, he enjoyed a fairy-tale rise under the Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mcenney-Complete with a hit documentary series-growing intrigue around whether Swansea could consider her own “doggeme” in the future.
For the time being, however, it focuses on football. The passion of Snoop Dogg for the game in combination with its unrivaled reach and cultural influence makes it unlikely, but an interesting addition to the Swansea City family.
“I’m proud to be part of Swansea City,” he added. “I’ll do everything I can to help the club.”
