The couple was on Sunday near Kalleperambur near Kallepeter’s electric current after they had entered into contact with a live wire that set off and fell on the fence.
The victims were identified as Subramanian, 53, farmer and his wife Ramaya (47) from Kallaperambur. The couple went to check their unpeeled fields outside the Kalleperambur-Buthaur road after the recent rain and strong winds. The police said Subramanian and Ramaya encountered a barbed wire fence installed along the neighboring farm to prevent animals from entering the field where a living wire fell. He did not know that the couple tried to walk through the fence and was an electric current to death.
The Kallepet Police plunged on the scene and sent both bodies to the Thanjavur Medical College Hospital for Mortem.
A case was registered.
