Smashed to 90 in the 8th but Jofra Archer found support from England captain Harry Brook

February 12, 2026

Jofra Archer didn’t get off to the best start to his World Cup T20 campaign but found support from England captain Harry Brook after the match against West Indies in Mumbai. Archer, who is expected to lead the pace for England’s spearhead and bowler, has been expensive in the two matches so far, conceding runs at an economy rate of over 10.

In the thriller against Nepal, the pacer finished with figures of 42 runs in four overs for just one wicket. Against the West Indies, Archer again failed to find his radar, conceding 48 runs in the four overs he bowled for a single wicket. England lost the match by 30 runs. Despite the poor returns, Brook believes the pacer will bounce back in the coming games.

The England skipper said the pacer is jumping fast, which is a positive sign after the first two matches.

“No, not really (I’m worried about Archer). Everyone knows how good Jof is. He’ll definitely be back. He’s playing fast and I’m sure he’ll do better in the coming games,” Brook said.

TRUST RECEIVED FROM BOMBAY

England had a tough time in Mumbai as they were pushed to the limit by Nepal and then lost on Wednesday. However, Brook feels there are plenty of positives to take from their first two games as they head to Kolkata for the remaining two games.

“I think we can take a lot of confidence not only from the Nepal game but from the last T20 in Sri Lanka where they were both close games. We can take a lot of confidence from them and the depth with the batting that we have as well, we stood in the dressing room and still needed 50 off in four overs and still believed in ourselves. So I think it could pay off today, but obviously another day. work,” Brook said.

England face Scotland in their next group game on February 14.
