A baby sloth that got stuck between two rocks on a cliff near Karikiyoor in Kil Kotagiri was rescued by the joint efforts of the forest department and the fire rescue service.
Forest department officials said they received information that the bear was stuck between two rocks and was unable to free itself. Assistant veterinarians, forest department personnel and Fire Rescue Department personnel went to the scene and started planning to save the animal.
They tranquilized the animal and then tied a rope around it and using a basic pulley mechanism managed to lift it out of the gap it was stuck in. The forest department said the animal was given first aid and checked for long-term injuries before being released back into the forest.
