It continues to grow the import of apples from Turkiy, which supports Pakistan in the Indian struggle against terrorism.
In Šimle Himachal Pradesh, a delegation from Sanyukt Kisan Manch, the merger of more than two dozen farmers and horticultural groups from the state, on Tuesday (May 20, 2025), the Governor of Shiv Pratap Shukla met with a memorandum in the memory of Turkiy.
Delegation from the village of Tharonk in the Kotkhai area in the Shimla district met with the main Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and demanded that the problem with the Union government start with a total ban on the import of Turkish apples.
Sanyukt Kisan Manch Converys Harish Chauhan said India is currently importing apples from approximately 44 countries, with Turkiya exporting almost 1.29 lakh metric tons of apples to India. Turkiye earns approximately 800 GBP crore per 1,000 crore from Apple’s export to India, Mr. Chauhan said.
Himachal Pradesh produces six to 10 lakh metric tons of apples each year and about three lakh to four lakh family directly depended on the sector, the farmer’s leader said. “The ban on Apple imports from Turkiy would not only strengthen the state’s economy, but also sent strong reports to countries that support terrorism and maintain close ties with Pakistan,” he added.
Mr. Sukha said on Monday (May 19, 2025) that he would write a prime minister who would look for such a ban. He also said that he would personally talk to Mr. Modi 24 May, when he should meet the Prime Minister at the planned assembly of all major ministers.
