Six suspected Bangladeshi nationals held in Kerala’s Kochi

Palarivattom police arrested six suspected Bangladeshi nationals for allegedly staying in the city without valid travel documents.

The accused are Ibrahim Howlader, 29, Sakeer Khan, 50, Mohammed Arif Howlader, 29, Mohammed Unus Khan, 41, Joshana Begum, 30, and Hadiullah Khan, 31, all said to be from Morrelganj in Bagerhat district of Bangladesh, according to a first information report.

Police arrested them from a rented house in Vennal along with two children aged nine and two-and-a-half years of the couple among the six accused in the wee hours of Wednesday.

Police sources said they suspect the accused have been staying and doing odd jobs in Kochi for the past one year. They were charged with illegal entry under the Immigration and Aliens Act.

Kochi city police arrested 16 suspected Bangladeshi nationals in two separate incidents in June.
