Six people arrested for selling child in Tirupattur
Six persons were arrested by the Oomerabad police near Ambur town in Tirupattur for allegedly selling a two-month-old baby girl to a couple in Namakkal for ₹4.6 million in cash.
Police said the arrested persons have been identified as S. Jabina, 35, the child’s mother, Rashid Ahamed, 50, Pughal, 45, Uma Maheshwari, 32, Mohammed Allaudeen, 62, and Ramesh, 43. Apart from Uma Maheshwari, who works as a nurse, Salvi Jambin at a private hospital, other brokers are involved. child.
Police said the couple who adopted the child were identified as Sathish and Harini from Namakkal. Rashid Ahamed convinced Jabina, who is looking for alms near Ambur, to sell the baby girl. Ahamed got in touch with other brokers before they informed Uma Maheshwari about the child.
Police said Shabbir Ahmed, a disabled person and husband of Jabina, came to know about the sale and alerted the local police. Subsequently, the police managed to get the baby from the gang and hand it over to the couple in Ambur. A case has been registered. The arrested persons have been lodged in an undercarriage in Tirupattur. A probe is underway.
