The Karimnagar Commissionerate Police on Saturday arrested six members of a gang involved in a series of cases of theft of copper wire, cattle and sheep reported at various police stations in the district.
The police claimed to have recovered two four-wheelers, a motorcycle and three cents of copper wire worth around ₹20 lakh from the accused.
The leader of the gang, identified as Manupati Shekar, 36, a driver from Kattarampur area of Karimnagar city, and five others, including a scrap dealer, were arrested by the police during a vehicle check at Gumlapur Junction in Choppadandi Mandal on Saturday, police said.
Efforts are on to nab the remaining eight gang members who are at large.
The accused were involved in a total of 15 theft cases that were reported recently in Choppadandi, Chigurumamidi, Manakondur, Gangadhara, Karimnagar, Ramadugu and LMD Colony districts.
Karimnagar Police Commissioner Gaush Alam praised the police team for arresting six gang members involved in multiple thefts.
