Six people were killed after a car fell into a 600-feet deep ravine at Saptashring Garh Ghat in Kalwan taluka Nashik on Sunday (December 7, 2025), a police official said.
The incident took place at 4 pm and the deceased hailed from Pimpalgaon Baswant in Niphad taluka, the official added.
“They died on the spot. The Toyota Innova vehicle, which had seven passengers, sustained heavy damage. The deceased have been identified as Kirti Patel (50), Raseela Patel (50), Vitthal Patel (65), Lata Patel (60), Vachan Patel (60) and Maniben Patel (70). Superintendent of Police Rescue Operations is Balavissaheb Patil.
The operations are underway with the deployment of police and district disaster management committee personnel, said local deputy collector and director general of district disaster management Rohitkumar Rajput.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis termed the incident as “extremely tragic” and said that the families of the deceased would be given financial assistance of ₹5,000 each from the state government.
The government stands with the families of the victims and rescue work is underway at the spot with full administrative support, the CM added.
PM Modi expresses grief over the death
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the deaths in the accident.
“I am deeply saddened by the loss of lives due to the mishap in Nashik, Maharashtra. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured,” the Prime Minister said.
