On Monday, the Yelahanka police arrested six gangs for the alleged Honeytration of the 41 -year -old private employee to blackmail 2 lakh from him on July 21.
Accused Raju Mane, 34; Sharanabasappa Baliger, 50; Abhishek, 19; Birbal Majjagi, 21; Shamsundar Pande (20 years) and Sangeeth Sahni (36 years) were arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by victims, a software engineer working with a significant company in Mahadevapura. He was originally from Telangana, but he lived in Bengalur for the past 15 years.
According to the police, Sangeettha made friends with the victim in the dating application a month ago and talked before she decided to meet.
The duo met in a Yelahance store and Sangeetha introduced herself as a single woman working as a business analyst in a private company and invited him home. On the way they bought liqueur, cigarettes and snacks to take them home.
They went to her rented accommodation and a group of four men plunged into the house. One of them claimed to be the owner of the house and accused them of giving away illegal activities.
The defendant checked Sangeoe’s bag and pulled out a few bags containing white powder that the police said was Soda.
The accused began to scream at the duo for possession of drugs and consumption. They threatened to call the police and file a complaint against the duo.
Sangeetha begged innocence, ran and locked inside the bathroom, and cried that her life was destroyed and she would end her life.
Meanwhile, men began to negotiate with the victim of Rrakesh and demanded 15 lakh to solve the matter. This amount was reduced to 2 lakh and the victim of Rrakesh borrowed part of the money from her friend and transferred it to the account to the accused.
The accused dropped Techie on a bicycle in an isolated place after promising to organize and convert the rest of the money.
The victims managed to get home and discuss this matter with his friends who suggested to approach the police after he suspects that something was wrong throughout the incident.
On the basis of the complaint, the police traceded the defendant on the basis of a money trail.
The probe revealed that Sharanabasappa is the usual perpetrator involved in a similar crime in 2023 at the Puttenahali police station.
Sangeetha worked at the dance bar and caused people with HoneyTrap people, the police said.
The police suspect that the accused could cheat on other people and the investigation is based on the finding of their criminal environment.
