In a strict action against those who did not participate as enumerations in the ongoing social and educational survey, the state government gave a bag of six anganwadi workers in the Raichur district.
This comes days after the state cabinet decided to take disciplinary measures against those who skip the exploration work.
This sweeping action caused the anger of the State Anganwadi’s work Union Karnataka, which threatened nationwide agitation if the order for release is not withdrawn.
The Union claimed that many Anganwadi workers have no smartphones needed to download an application for exploration and government without providing matching devices cannot insist on participating in the survey.
Those who were released are Gundamma, Rangamma, Muthamma, Chand Bi, Vijayalakshmi and Renuka of Deodurg Taluk.
In the order of the Deputy Director of the Ministry of Women and Children Raichur, Raichur claimed that these women not only did not appear for exploratory work despite several reminders of their superiors, but also caused others to skip the work.
He said the progress of the survey was limited because of these six people.
Varalakshmi, President, Karnataka State Anganwadi Workers’ Union, said that Anganwadi staff would be expected to use their own smartphones for the survey, and the six of the above were very poor and should not own them.
“When the smartphone problem was marked, officials told them to borrow the facilities either from their spouses or others and conducted. This is unacceptable. It is not appropriate to expect Anganwadi staff (in the survey) without providing the right equipment and then rejected for their work.” “She said.”
