The annual Brahmotsavams coinciding with “Sri Rama Navami” will begin at the Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple in Vontimitta from March 27 to April 5, with the preparatory ritual “Ankurarpanam” on March 26.
The most important event of the festivities — ‘Sita Rama Kalyanam’ — will be conducted by the state government on April 1. It will be attended by VIPs and regular devotees from across the state.
Meanwhile, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Joint Managing Director V. Veerabrahmam reviewed the progress of work at the temple and held a detailed meeting with officials of all departments on Wednesday.
He inspected the temporary kitchen, raw material storage sheds set up outside the temple and asked the officials to complete the work before the deadline.
Kalyana Vedika
The ‘Kalyana Vedika’, the place built opposite the temple for the ‘Kalyanotsavam’ celestial wedding of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita, is decorated on the occasion. Seventeen counters were set up to distribute ‘Talambralu’ and ‘Annaprasadam’ to devotees to ensure free movement of the public.
Since the event falls in peak summer, Mr. Veerabrahmam directed the officials to keep sachets of drinking water and buttermilk ready for distribution to the public. He also evaluated the development of roads, especially ‘mada’ streets.
Executive Engineer Narasimha Murthy Chief PRO T. Ravi Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kusuma Kumari, Deputy Executive Director T. Prasanthi, Additional Health Officer Dr. Sunil and Special Officer of Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishat (HDPP) Sriram Raghunath attended the review meeting.
