The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing multiple rape allegations against Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil approached a district court here on Monday seeking cancellation of the anticipatory bail granted to the expelled Congress legislator in a sexual assault case on the ground that he had violated bail conditions.
The suit filed in court alleges that the MLA attempted to contact the victim in the second case, violating the bail condition. The court granted him anticipatory bail by imposing strict conditions, including restrictions on direct or indirect contact with the deceased.
However, the survivor filed a complaint with the SIT and alleged that the accused tried to contact her on February 17, though she did not respond to the call.
The court issued a notice to Mr. Mamkootathil and posted the matter for hearing on February 28. He faces three cases of sexual assault, in two of which he was granted anticipatory bail, while in the third case he was remanded in judicial custody before a Pathanamthitta court granted him bail.
