Anuradha Dhashwar, a former announcer in All India Radio Dharwad and one of the first light singers in Karnataka, died on Thursday in Dharwad. She was 87. She survived her son.
Anuradha, who began her career as an announcer at Air Dharwad at the age of 60, was known for her voice variant and the portrayal of light vocal songs.
Obtaining songs as Enna Desha Bandhavare…, Geetarupakas, Tingal Lokada Angallli, Kittura Channamma and Mahatma Gandhi, as well as several Konkani.
After retirement, she devoted herself to music and was known for her portrayal of Dr. Bendre
She has been a number of awards, including the Rajyotsava Award, Karnataka Sangeeta Nritya Academy Award and Sant Shishishunala Sharif.
President of Kannada Sahitya Parishat Mahesh Joshi mourned over her demise and remembered her determination to music.
