As part of his efforts to protect the water and the development of groundwater table, the leadership of the Collieries Company LTD (SCCL) decided to build 50 mini tanks/ponds and develop them across the coal mines using the OpenCast Mines as water formations, especially among the transformed campaigns.
According to the chairman and CEO of the coal company N. Balaram, they plan to take over the development of mini tanks under the program “Singareni Neeti Binduvu – Jala Sindhuvu”. He stated that efforts were also aimed at providing clean drinking water to people in the Singareni areas even during the summer periods.
As part of the program, they also planned to improve the storage of water and ponds within two km in the area of existing mining areas. Mr. Balaram said that measures would also help improve green coverage, birds and wild animal, including water creatures.
CMD said the singarens followed the environmental mining procedures and also improved the green coverage by planting a large number of seedlings every year. They were now planning to improve groundwater table as part of their social responsibility. On Monday, Balaram was arranged with all the general managers of the area to develop 50 mini-tanks.
Along with the development of mini-tank, the singarens would also improve the storage of water in the dissolved opencast below the pit to fill the area between the overload of the dump of rainwater or water pumped from the operational mines under the operation. Some necessary civic work would also be accepted to store more water in opencasts and direct the flow of excess water downstream.
Water stored in all such water bodies would also be often tested for quality to be used for domestic and drinking. Directors of the company D. Satyanarayana Rao, LV Suryanarayana and K. Venkateshwar and Executive Director of SD.M. Subhani, advisor Mohan Parggaien participated.
