Singapore firms to expand presence, invest another ₹ 2,000 crore in Karnataka: MB Patil
Singapore-based real asset manager CapitaLand Investment wants to expand its data center capacity in Karnataka with an investment of around ₹2,000 crore, in addition to the 42 MW data center it is developing at International Tech Park Banglore, said Minister for Large and Medium Industries MB Patil, who is arriving in Singapore on Friday to attract investment to the state.
Mr. Patil said ST Telemedia Global Data Centers (STT GDC), a leading data center platform with a significant presence in India, has expressed interest in further expanding its data center presence in the state. STT GDC operates 34 data centers in 10 cities with over 613 MW of IT capacity, including three facilities in Bengaluru. The company will invest around ₹ 5,000 crore to develop a 100 MW data center campus on KIADB land in Devanahalli, he said.
Mr. Patil said there is considerable scope for deeper collaboration between Karnataka and Singapore across high-value sectors such as aerospace and defense, semiconductors, aviation MRO and other advanced industries. These opportunities were discussed with Gan Siow Huang, Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Singapore.
He said he would seek further progress in this regard through the Invest Karnataka Forum and the Singapore Enterprise Center in Bengaluru. The Singapore government has also been invited to participate as a partner country in the Global Investor Meet 2027 to be held next year, he added.
