Sigma Advanced has bagged a contract to export artillery shells for $21.97 million
Sigma Advanced Systems has been awarded a $21.97 million (nearly ₹208 million) export contract to manufacture and supply 40,000 pieces of 155mm M107 artillery shells.
The order for the North American customer will be fulfilled over a six-month period, with production and delivery scheduled to be completed within that time frame. It marks a strategic expansion of munitions capabilities, moving from a producer of fuzes to a producer of complete artillery shell components, Sigma Advanced said Monday.
The project involves the production of 155mm artillery shells, a critical structural component of artillery ammunition that requires advanced metallurgical expertise, precision manufacturing capabilities and rigorous quality assurance processes. An export permit has been obtained from the Department of Defense (DDP) of the Ministry of Defence.
“The contract reflects the confidence of international customers in India’s defense manufacturing ecosystem and Sigma’s ability to deliver complex, high-precision products at scale. Manufacturing artillery shell mounts requires deep expertise in metallurgy, precision engineering, process control and quality assurance. This order strengthens our position in the global defense supply chain,” said CEO Sunil Kalidindi.
