Two days after a deadly explosion in the Sigachi Industries manufacturing unit in the Pashamylaram in Hyderabad, which claimed at least 40 lives and left many injured, the cause of the explosion remains unclear. On Wednesday, the company denied that it was to blame the reactor.
The high -ranking sources in the state government, referring to preliminary assessments, pointed out more security garbage: lack of reasonable entry and exit points for workers, poor ventilation and alleged violations of the failure standard, allegedly using almost the entire ground land.
The manager said that the company was under the scanner and the government ministry issued a notice of recent as December 2024. However, the official did not process whether the company responded or took any corrective measures.
Minister of Labor G. Vivekanand told Hindu that the government will convene meetings with representatives of pharmaceutical companies to review security protocols after the explosion. It is now emphasized to ensure that all branches of red categories have reasonably trained staff that process each department, said.
In a written response to Hindu questions, Sigachi Industries claimed that he had all required authorities and operation permits. “We have been running this plant for 35 years without a single incident,” the company said.
Regarding the observation of government officials and companies emphasizing the alleged laxity by the company to upgrade to new equipment, the company said the unit is one of the earliest plants that Sigachi commissioned. “Over the years, Sigachi has constantly invested in additional equipment, improvements, structural strengthening and compliance audits to ensure that the facility meets national and international safety standards. We are destroyed by this record,” the company said.
Hyderabad has been certified by the international standard ISO 45001: 2018 for safety and health management systems that help businesses create safer and healthier workplaces. Regular audits are performed within the certification. “There were no critical inability to lead to security concerns or problems,” Sigachi said, without mentioning when the last audit was performed.
She said that internal safety review has been launched and Sigachi is still determined to cooperate with all legal, safety and regulatory audits to strengthen security standards. All learning will be integrated to strengthen and reworking the safety framework, he said.
When he talked to the media, Sigachi MD and the CEO of AMIT Raj Sinha said the plant building was old, but it is constantly improved inside. Regarding the cause of the incident, he said it seems that this is an explosion of dust in the Sušičky section. The company has three such devices in the country and no solvents have been used in them, he added.
Mr.Sinha thanked the main minister A.Revant Reddy and the medical, work and industrial ministers, local MLA, district collectors and officials for “unconditional support”.
He said in questions that there were 143 employees in the plant during the incident and the company is in the process of collecting the number of contractual workers. The company pays hospital accounts for the injured and its executives were placed in all hospitals to provide the help of the families of these deceased and injured, he said.
