The number of victims in Sigachi Industries Blast in Sangareddy climbed to 42, after two more victims succumbed to injuries and confirmed two DNA matches, the officials said.
Sangareddy Police Paankay said Jitender, a native of Odisha, died on Sunday morning at Dhruva Hospital in Dhruva hospital, while Manmohan Choudhara of Bihar died on Saturday evening at Pranava Hospital. “DNA matches of the body and part of the body were confirmed, so tolls 42,” added Sp.
Srinivas Reddy Patamansera Government Hospital explained that while 40 are complete bodies, two are just parts of the body that were handed over to the families after DNA testing.
Bodies sent to native places
The bodies were handed over to the relevant families and sent to their birthplace with full police escort. Each ambulance was accompanied by two constraints to ensure a safe passage and official protocol.
Meanwhile, search operations continued at the explosion site, with fire staff, SDRF, Hydraa, local police and income departments involved in combing debris.
On Sunday evening, officials confirmed that 44 pieces of human remains were obtained from the place, days after an explosion that left more than 30 other injured.
“A total of four body fragments, especially bone pieces, have been renewed today. They are sent to forensic scientific laboratories (FSL) in Hyderabad for DNA analysis to determine identity,” said Patamansera Government Hospital Superintendent (SP) Srinivas Reddy.
