T20 World Cup | Finn Allen is keen to make the most of India’s smaller boundaries and flat wickets
Mumbai got off to a shaky start and the team lost two wickets for 18 runs and then another for 44. Siddhesh Lad came on at a tough time and joined Musheer Khan at the crease. The two players added 63 runs together and Musheer reached his fifty to level the innings. Lad led the side as stand-in captain as Shardul Thakur was unavailable after the mid-season break. Lad then built a strong partnership with Suved Parkar for the sixth wicket to claim his fourth consecutive first-class hundred during that stand. Mumbai finished their first innings on 317 runs and the team secured a lead of 96 runs.Earlier this month, Lad scored 104 runs against Hyderabad and Mumbai won the match by nine wickets. He scored 127 against Himachal Pradesh and 170 against Puducherry before the break and both matches ended in innings victories for Mumbai. Lad joined big Indian names like Vijay Merchant and Sachin Tendulkar in scoring four consecutive centuries. Parthiv Patel holds the Indian record of five consecutive centuries in first-class cricket and the world record is six, shared by CB Fry, Don Bradman and Mike Procter. Lad still has a chance to equal that record if his form continues.
