There is something really special in production about young Indian crickets. As the game becomes harder with each level passing, the control only grows – with thousands of eyeballs always follow, regardless of the stage that is played. Thanks to the hard competition in the Indian landscape, where almost every child wants to be a cricket, the journey is even more demanding.
Getting into the Indian jersey is a long waiting game. With only selected places available at the moment, most players will end in playing very long waiting games, sometimes patiently, sometimes painfully, for their moment of fame. While the country’s representation is a final dream, cricket, around the world, now provides alternative ways to play at the highest level of the game. With franchise tournaments blooming around the world, players now have a chance to show their talent before participating in the national team.
You don’t have to look that far for the high quality T20 league. In New Delhi, Delhi Premier League offered some exceptional standards in its establishment. Digvesh Rathi, Priyansh Arya, Suyash Sharma, Ayush Badoni took part in the 2024 tournament season and provided high standards in the league.
For example, take Priyansh Arya, which was developed directly to the Indian Premier League after an exceptional trip in the opening season of the tournament.
In 2025, Priyansh is to play on the external Delhi Warriors, a newly elaborated team in the tournament. However, Priyank will not lead the team because the party trusted the duo Siddhant Sharma and Harsh Tyagi to make matters of matters.
But why did the team lead the leading role of two unknown commodities in the home cricket in their opening season?
Today, India caught up with a franchise for a promotion event before the tournament, where the team mentor Parthiv Patel explained the unique team calls at the auction table.
The big punt at the auction table
The main group Outer Delhi Warriors looked sharp and turned on at auctions that took place before the second season. When the teams broke the bank on the proven IPL talents, such as Simarjeet Singh (RS 39 Lakh) and Digvesh Rathi (RS 38 lakh), the outer Delhi Warriors walked quietly.
The franchise trusted Siddhant Sharma (R 12.50 lakh) and Harsh Tyagi (Rs 19 lakh) to create a party leader. In return, they liberated the budget for IPL Champion Suyash Sharma (RS 15 lakh) and cleaned their bowling attack. In order to keep this taste of Delhi alive and digging, they went to Wicketkeeper-Bater Dhruv Singh and the best order Batst Sanat Sangwan.
Although they like Priyank Arya and Suyash Sharma, the fact that the franchise named two unknown players in the leadership group was supposed to speak much. Priyansh and Suyash proved to be in the Indian Premier League. Priyansh took the IPL storm and in his newcomers hit 475 runs, while Suyash Sharma proved to be an ugly spinner at the highest level of the game.
So many naturally expected that the captain’s bracelet would go to one of the two. But the external warriors in Delhi had something else in mind. They led Siddhant Sharma, a hardworking modified Pacer who did not play neither in the IPL nor the stellar power so that the fans were going to the stadiums. And maybe that’s exactly that the leadership tried.
Captain Siddhant does not have to bear the magic and aura of others, but what it brings is versatility, something that leadership requires. It is different thinking and that is nothing wrong.
Warriors made a statement that they were issued to the tournament that not every captain must be a star from the beginning. It’s at least a bold move. Just look at his capable counterparts – Delhi attackers are guided by a shot that has now represented India in all three formats. Lions West Delhi have Nitish Rana as their captain, a seasoned fighter IPL, who in 2023 captain KKR by the captain.
Warriors may have taken the RCB book, named Rajat Patidar for his captain, who went to the 2025 season. Patidar, who came to the side only as a replacement in 2022, helped to end one of the most painful announced trophy drought in a modern cricket.
Before the season 2025 no one gave RCB a chance; Heck, their own former coach Mike Hesson placed them on 9. But sometimes it is perhaps the bravest calls that are best in the rapidly changing landscape of the T20 game.
The team chased the star. They chased stability. “We feel that Siddhant’s versatility can significantly improve our franchise performance by liberating other players to focus on their primary duties. To have a reliable versatile like him could be a huge strengthening franchise in their debut,” said Ashu Dhani.
Siddhant shows that warriors build something deeper, something that appreciates the clarity of the role more than anything else.
“We feel that this setting seizes players like Priyansh and Suyash to play freely and focus only on their unique strengths,” Dhani explained.
A friend forged from the roots of the dilli
The decision to connect Siddhant, Suyash and Priyansh in the team is carefully considered. The trio grew together and played cricket at age groups. Perhaps franchise hopes that the chemistry of the two best players will keep the dressing room together at heights and minima through the tournament.
“They (Priyansh and Suyash Sharma) are exceptional players. We played cricket in Delhi from a very young age, played together at the age of 19, up to 23 years, even last season DPL. We have a friendly bond and share tactical ideas with each other.”
Helping Siddhant in his duties is a harsh tyagi, a name that does not need an introduction in domestic circles in Delhi. Great head with wild game, harsh was the player of the match in the semifinals 2024 DPL for the riders East Deli-43 only 17 balls and picked up two key goals. His versatile display was powered by his team to the title, where he wrapped the tournament as the third highest goal with 16 scalp heads.
Who are Siddhant Sharma and Harsh Tyagi?
Captain and Vice-Capitan Duo are two unique individuals. While Captain Siddhant, a medium left shoulder pacer, draws inspiration from the greats of Wasim Akram and Zheer Khan, the vice -president of the harsh Tyagi, the slow Orthodox spinner of the left shoulder, who can contribute with the bat. But as his bats evolved, he found his hero in Ravindra Jadeja-Czech versatile, whose impact on the game exceeds only one skill.
While Siddhant sees the opportunity of the captain of the external warriors in Delhi, when the dream come true, the harsh Tyagi brings with him the heritage of the temperament of big matches. Tyagi still remembers the final of the Asia Cup 2018 U-19 against Sri Lanka, where he raised 6 in 38 years and was appointed player of the match, a show that proudly calls a defining moment of his career.
“In 2013, I made my debut for DDCA for DDCA. In U19 I was the second highest goals in India for two consecutive years, which led to my Indian call U19 under Rahul Dravid.
From there, his journey moved to the domestic circuit with railways, where he performed in first -class documents A and T20 cricket.
“The railways provided me with a cricket and work platform. DDCA, especially under Rohan Jaitley, also supported young talents through DPL. If we perform, there is always a way forward,” added the 25 -year -old man.
Tyagi believes that the process is more important than the result and gives him everything in all three aspects of the game as versatile.
While the main piece of today’s generation remains obsessed with immediate results, they are devoted crickets like Siddhant and Harsh, who continue to inspire children playing in Maidans throughout the city, proving that perseverance can never be called “old school”.
