Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday (May 11) accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of destroying the dignity, seriousness and propriety of the prime minister’s office through his speeches “full of lies, bad taste, hatred and jealousy” and asked Mr Modi to prepare himself before making accusations as false statements do not suit the Prime Minister.
“Mr. Modi needs to clarify whether his speech in Bengaluru was delivered as the Prime Minister of the country or as the state president of the BJP or as the leader of the opposition. His remarks reflected the failure of his own government at the Center and helplessness in not being able to correct the poor state of his party in Karnataka,” Mr. Siddaramaiah responded to the Prime Minister on social media platform ‘X. He took a dig at the Prime Minister by saying that Mr. Modi appeared to still be hungover from the election rallies in five states.
Mr Siddaramaiah’s counter-attack on Mr Modi came after the latter on Sunday (May 10) accused the Congress of betraying the DMK in its lust for power and accused the Congress government in Karnataka of spending more time on internal disputes than solving people’s problems.
Mr. Siddaramaiah gave statistics on Karnataka’s economy to the Congress and challenged the Prime Minister: “The next time you make allegations against our government, please come with some preparation. False statements do not suit the Prime Minister.”
Turning his attention to the BJP’s state unit, the chief minister said, “There are half a dozen factions opposing former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and his family. Though the leaders of these factions have leveled hundreds of allegations against Mr. Yediyurappa, the so-called leader (Mr. Modi) with a 56-inch strike against the state has no chest, the President has no disciplinary courage. Worth.” He further said, “BJP has deteriorated to such an extent that it is now falling at the feet of leaders who are suspended by the party and bringing them back to election campaign.”
On the Prime Minister’s remark about betrayal by Congress, Mr. Siddaramaiah said, “If Mr. Modi had remembered the history of betrayal by his own party, he certainly would not have blamed Congress for betrayal. The list of regional parties that allied with the BJP and were later betrayed continues to grow. The list of opposition leaders who blackmailed their own parties and blackmailed them.”
Mr Siddaramaiah said the Prime Minister, who had been patting himself on the face of poverty eradication, was now asking people not to buy gold, avoid foreign travel and reduce consumption of cooking oil and fuel. “What is this development? The people of this country are mature enough to understand that the hardships they are facing in their daily lives as petrol, diesel, cooking gas and cooking oil are becoming more expensive are the result of the confused foreign policy of the country. Who will you blame for this failure? Jawaharlal Nehru? Congress?”
