
The new Indian Test Captain SHUBMAN GILL said he has no intention of maintaining any special style of leadership, and instead hopes to shape his own identity when he gains experience. Gill, however, emphasized its focus on providing teammates with clarity and safe environment to play best.
Gill addressed the media for the first time since she was named Indian Captain of the Test. He a Head coach Gautam Gambhir spoke On the cricket board in India (BCCI) on the eve of the team departure to England for five match test series.
Gill named Captain last month with a selection commission led by Ajit Agarkar, he will take over Rohit Sharma from the test cricket after retirement. In England, he will lead a juvenile and relatively inexperienced group, while Rohit and Virt Kohl have resigned from the longest format in June.
“My captain’s style will be my own; it will evolve with experience. I want the players to feel safe, comfort them and build a strong bond. Players must feel safe … Only then they can give 100 percent,” Gill said.
In 25, Gill is one of the youngest leadership of the Indian test party in recent years. While he lacks experience in the cricket of the red ball, the captain of India during the five T20i matches in Zimbabwe in 2024 and led Gujarat Titans in the Premier League, Indian, and included the pressure that came with a role.
In the first -class cricket, however, Gill Captain Pandjab in just five matches and won only one.
Gill admitted that he was amazed at his appointment because he was selected before experienced players as Jasprit Bumrah and Kl Rahul, both former captains.
“When I learned about the captain of the test, I was amazed at this honor and opportunities. It’s a great responsibility and I’m looking forward to the challenge,” he said.

The Indian Campaign in England will mean the beginning of the New Test World Championship (WTC) cycle. The first test starts on June 20 in Headingley, Leeds.
England, under Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum, rediscovered a test game with an ultra -aggressive dubbed “Boveball” style. While India played them in their 2023 series, they remain huge at home because they won 15 out of their 20 tests from the duo.
Gill, however, remained an aggressive approach of England.
“They play in some way. I think we saw it when they came to India,” he said.
“It’s very exciting for us. It gives us an opportunity, a big challenge. If we are very proactive with our execution and our plans, I think it would cause them under tremendous pressure.”
