
SHUBMAN GILL etched his name in historical books when he registered the most running of the Indian batter in a single test in the 4th day of the second match against England in Edgbaston in Birmingham. Gill, scored sensational 269 in the first shifts, killed the next century in the second inning and broke the 54 -year -old record Sunil Gavascar.
Gavascar accumulated 344 runs during the fifth test against West Indies in April 1971. He also became the eighth Indian to score hundreds and the third captain of the country in every shift of the test match to achieve this performance.
In front of him also Sunil Gavascar (1978) and Virat Kohli (2014) also achieved this performance as the captains of tests in India. A 25 -year -old man also became a ninth player who had ever won twice a hundred and a hundred in the same test match.
