The selection panel led by Ajit Agarkar is expected to meet on August 19 to complete the group for the tournament scheduled from 9 to 28 September in SAE. With Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson, they established themselves as a preferred combination of opening, selectors face a hard call to add another opener, and if so, who should be.

Chopra claimed that Jaiswal’s style suits the Indian T20 template. “According to the T20 characters, Yashasvi is a little before SHUBMAN. The way the T20 and DNA team plays is also marrying this style,” he said on his YouTube channel on Saturday. He also pointed to the challenge to accommodate Gill without disrupting the balance of XI playing. “Sometimes it also happens that if you choose SHUBMAN as the third opener who is your captain of the test, Vice President ODI, now you have it on the T20is bench, it will not look very nice. When India’s highest order settled, Chopra asked how Gill or Jaiswal could fit without shaking the lineup. “But if the third opener is SHUBMAN, do you want him to sit on the bench? If you are not doing it and play at eleven, for whom will it come? If the name of this player Sanju Samson, who will hold the goals?”

Is the aggressive style of Yashsvi Jaiswal more suitable for cricket T20 compared to SHUBMAN GILL?
He also explained why Samson’s role complicated matters. “That’s a problem because we don’t see Sanja Samson playing in medium ranking. You would like him upstairs. Tilak and Surya will play at number three and four. So, Sanja for fifth? It won’t be a good story,” Chopra added.
