1. Fastest Indian to 1,000, 2,000 and 3,000 ODI runs
Gill holds the record as the fastest Indian to reach 1,000, 2,000 and 3,000 ODI runs. He reached 1000 runs in 19 innings, 2000 in 38 innings and 3000 in 62 innings. His mark of 38 innings for 2,000 ODI runs is also the fastest by any batsman in the history of the format.
2. Youngest ODI double century scorer
Gill became the youngest player to score an ODI double century when he smashed an unbeaten 208 off 149 balls against New Zealand in January 2023. Aged just 23 years and 132 days at the time, he produced one of the most memorable innings of his young international career.
3. Highest IPL Playoff Score
Gill holds the record for the highest individual score in IPL playoff history. He produced a sensational 129 off just 60 balls for Gujarat Titans against Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 during the 2023 season, leading his team to an impressive victory.
4. Youngest to reach 4000 IPL runs
Gill became the youngest batsman to reach 4000 runs in IPL history. He accomplished this in the 2026 season at the age of 26 years and 216 days.
5. Most runs scored by an Indian in a Test match
Gill produced a historic performance during India’s tour of England, scoring 269 and 161 in the Edgbaston Test. His total of 430 runs is the highest total by an Indian batsman in a single Test match. Overall, it is the second highest total in Test history, behind England’s Graham Gooch, who scored 456 against India at Lord’s in 1990.
6. Biggest Test win by an Indian captain
Gill also enjoyed historic success as captain at Edgbaston. His team beat England by 336 runs after setting a target of 608, the biggest Test win away from home by an Indian captain in terms of runs. It was also Gill’s first Test win as India captain.
